Delhi Capitals beat Rajasthan Royals by 13 runs at Dubai International Cricket Ground in Dubai and registered their sixth win of the tournament while Rajasthan Royals suffered their fifth loss.
Earlier Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bat first but they had a poor start as Prithvi Shaw got out for the first ball duck and Ajinkya Rahane got out for just 2 runs and both wickets were taken by Jofra Archer. Shikhar Dhawan counter attacked and his 85 runs partnership with Iyer took the score to over 90 runs.
Shikhar Dhawan got out after scoring 57 runs off 33 balls and after a few overs Iyer also brought up his fifty as well but he too got out for 53 runs and in the end, Marcus Stoinis and Alex Carey couldn't score quick runs and Delhi finished on 161/7 in 20 overs.
In reply, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes gave a quick start of 37 runs in just 3 overs. Buttler once again couldn't convert his start and was bowled out by Nortje. Steven Smith's poor form continued as R Ashwin dismissed him for just 1 run.
Ben Stokes and Sanju Samson took the score to over 80 runs in 10 overs and the match in Rajasthan's favor but Ben Stokes gifted his wicket and later Sanju Samson too got out and thus in the last 6 overs Rajasthan Royals needed 47 runs to win.
But tight bowling from R Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, and Anrich Nortje didn't allow the likes of Robin Uthappa and Rahul Tewatia to score these many runs, and eventually, Rajasthan Royals finished on 148/8 in 20 overs and lost the match.
