Batting at the top, Curran scored 31 off 21 balls (3 fours and 2 sixes) to lead the foundation for CSK’s 167/6 in Dubai on Tuesday (October 13).
Defending the total, the Men in Yellow restricted SRH to 147/8 to register their third win of the IPL 2020 from eight games.
"Yeah, very good win. Obviously, we needed a couple of wins to get the tournament going. I was surprised to get at the top of the order but really enjoyed it, I got the team off to a good start and most importantly, a good win," Curran told Dwayne Bravo in a video posted on iplt20.com.
"It was good to bat at the top of the order, we have struggled initially to get some momentum but it came right against Sunrisers Hyderabad. I am just trying to contribute with both bat and ball," he added.
Curran also left his mark with the ball, returning with the figures of 1-18 from his three overs. He bagged the prized scalp of SRH skipper David Warner (9).
In this match, Shane Watson (42 off 38 balls), Ambati Rayudu (41 off 34 balls) batted at No. 3, 4 respectively and both of them made significant contributions to CSK’s total. Ravindra Jadeja (25* off 10 balls) and MS Dhoni (21 off 13 balls) also played valuable cameos.
With the ball, Karn Sharma (2-37) and Dwayne Bravo (2-25) claimed two scalps each while Shardul Thakur (1-10) and Jadeja (1-21) also chipped in with wicket apiece.
CSK are currently in the sixth position on the IPL 2020 points table and they will face Delhi Capitals (DC) in their next fixture at Sharjah on Saturday (October 17).
