IPL 2020: “Can’t promote other batsmen,” Virender Sehwag wants MS Dhoni to bat up the order

Sehwag said that now is the time for Dhoni to stop thinking about other players.

Sehwag said that now is the time for Dhoni to stop thinking about other players | BCCI/IPLChennai Super Kings (CSK) will face off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a do-or-die encounter of IPL 2020 in Dubai on Tuesday. They have only two wins in seven matches so far and are placed at the 7th spot in the points table.

The team will have to win at least 5 of their next 7 matches, with very little margin for error and then too, hope for other factors to go in their favor if they want to make it to the playoffs for IPL 2020. CSK has made the playoffs in every edition of IPL they have played since 2008.

Former India batsman Virender Sehwag simply feels that MS Dhoni needs to bat higher up in the order for CSK to get out of the rut and find victory again. He said that Dhoni cannot send any other batsman over him anymore, not with the team needing to win every remaining match from now on.

IPL 2020: Brad Hogg suggests big changes for CSK ahead of IPL 13 encounter against SRH

MS Dhoni needs to stop thinking about other players. He needs to first think about himself, and come into bat higher up. You cannot just go on promoting other batsmen up the order. For CSK to win, Dhoni will have to bring himself up the order,” said Virender Sehwag on his Facebook channel titled ‘Viru Ki Baithak’.

Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis are under constant pressure that if they don’t give CSK a good start, the rest of the team will not be able to get them to a good score. Rayudu has to understand that in T20 cricket, the game ends after 20 overs, and he can’t start hitting in the 20th over,” Sehwag further said.

Bowling-wise Sehwag felt that Dhoni should go with Chahar in the death overs after Sam Curran was taken to cleaners by Virat Kohli in the last match.

Sam Curran was jolted by RCB’s Virat Kohli in the last match, so maybe this time around MS Dhoni will think of replacing him for the final overs by Deepak Chahar,” said Sehwag.
