King XI Punjab (KXIP) took on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 24th game of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday (October 10).
Opting to bat first, KKR posted 164/6 in 20 overs on the back of skipper Dinesh Karthik’s 29-ball 58 and Shubman Gill’s 47-ball 57.
Arshdeep Singh and Ravi Bishnoi were the pick of the bowlers for KXIP, claiming one wicket each by conceding 25 runs in their four overs.
In reply, Kings XI got off to a brilliant start as the pair of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal added 115 runs for the opening wicket.
Prasidh Krishna drew the first blood for KKR by dismissing Agarwal for 39-ball 56 in the 15th over. Afterwards, it was all about KKR bowlers dominating the KXIP batsmen, especially Prasidh and Sunil Narine.
While Prasidh removed Rahul (74 off 58 balls), Simran Singh (4) and conceded only 6 runs in the penultimate over, Narine dismissed Nicholas Pooran (16), Mandeep Singh (0) and defended 14 runs in the last over to ensure KXIP’s two-run victory.
Cricket experts were left speechless by KKR bowlers’ comeback in the last five overs after Rahul & Agarwal put their team on the brink of victory.
