IPL 2020: Cricket fraternity reacts as KKR bowlers restrict CSK to 157/5 while defending 167

CSK’s middle-order once again faltered under pressure.

KKR bowlers did a fantastic job | IANSKolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 21st match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday (October 7).

Opting to bat first, KKR posted 167/10 in 20 overs on the back of Rahul Tripathi’s 51-ball 81 (8 fours and 3 sixes).

For CSK, Karn Sharma (2/25), Sam Curran (2/26) and Shardul Thakur (2/28) were economical with the ball and claimed two wickets each.

Chasing the target, Super Kings were cruising when Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu were at the crease. The duo added 69 runs for the second wicket before Kamlesh Nagarkoti removed Rayudu (30 off 27 balls) in the 13th over. Just an over later, Watson (50 off 40 balls) also perished as Sunil Narine trapped him in front of the wicket.

CSK’s middle-order once again faltered under pressure. While MS Dhoni (11 off 12 balls) once again failed to make a mark with the bat, the likes of Sam Curran (17), Kedar Jadhav (7*) and Ravindra Jadeja (21*) also couldn’t take their team over the finishing line.

Pat Cummins (0/25), Nagarkoti (1/21), Varun Chakravarthy (1/28), Narine (1/31) and Mavi (1/32) did a brilliant job with the ball as KKR eventually restricted CSK to 157/5.

Cricket experts were quite impressed with Knight Riders’ comeback in the second half of the match.
