Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Dinesh Karthik has been on the receiving a significant amount of criticism for his poor decision making and captaincy after his poor run in the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in the UAE.
The two-time champions have been struggling in the ongoing IPL 2020 despite having a number of match-winners in their ranks, losing 2 of their 4 games in the tournament so far.
Apart from his leadership and poor decision making, Karthik came under scrutiny for his own performance in the IPL 13 too with many cricket fraternities and fans demanding for the wicketkeeper-batsman to be replaced by England’s World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan as KKR skipper.
However, leading a team in the IPL isn’t really an easy task for someone and even the likes of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni also face criticism sometimes and former Australia and KKR spinner Brad Hogg has firmly backed Karthik to continue to lead the KKR in the ongoing IPL 2020, saying he should just rely on Morgan’s experience to lead the team in the world’s biggest T20 league.

He believes that it would be risky to remove Karthik from captaincy while explaining why he shouldn’t be replaced by the in-form batsman Morgan in the ongoing IPL 13.
Hogg said in reply to a fan’s question on a video uploaded on his YouTube channel: “You gotta realize in their team they can only play four overseas players. If Morgan starts finding a little bit of misfortune with his form, they have to bring in Tom Banton. Having him as captain will make it difficult to drop Morgan. So, I’d stick with Dinesh Karthik, but utilize Morgan’s experience.”
He concluded, “Look, I’d love this move to make Eoin Morgan KKR captain. Morgan is a great captain, and when you got someone like that in your team, you got to utilize those skills. But Dinesh Karthik is doing a good job, but he has to utilize Morgan’s skills.”
