Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) overseas recruit from USA, pacer Ali Khan, has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in UAE with an untimely injury.
Khan, who became the first cricketer from USA to bag an IPL contract when he was roped in as a replacement for injured Harry Gurney, has now himself sustained an injury severe enough for him to miss the entire tournament.
"Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders signed up Ali Khan as a replacement for injured Harry Gurney. Khan became the first USA cricketer to be signed up by an IPL franchise. Unfortunately, Khan has since been injured and will miss the rest of the IPL 2020 season," reads an official IPL statement.
Khan must be really disappointed to be going back home without making his IPL debut, his longstanding dream.
The right-arm quick had also been in good form, taking eight wickets in eight matches at an economy rate of 7.43 in Trindago Knight Riders' successful campaign in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020.
KKR are currently placed fourth in the IPL 2020 points table with two wins and two losses.
The team next play Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday (October 7).
