IPL 2020: "So unsporting of MS Dhoni," Iceland Cricket takes a dig at Ricky Ponting over mankading

Ponting has been a vocal opponent of mankading dismissal, calling it against sportsman spirit.

Delhi Capitals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and coach Ricky Ponting were involved in an indirect conversation about where to 'Mankad' or not. The spinner has been open about running out the non-striker if he is taking undue advantage by taking a few steps before the ball is bowled.

However, Ponting had earlier said that 'Ashwin can't do Mankading as long as he plays for Delhi Capitals'. Cricket fans had ranted the former Australian skipper for talking about the 'Spirit of the Game' and criticized him for not following the same in his playing days.

To take it a step further, the official Twitter handle of Cricket Iceland took a cheeky dig at Ponting by applying his logic of 'not Mankading' to 'not stumping' batsmen out of their crease.

They wrote, "This is so unsporting of MS Dhoni. He does it all the time. The batsman only came out of his crease by a short margin and he didn’t mean to. Dhoni should be giving the batsman a warning and then let him carry on batting.” — Ricky Ponting"

Here is the tweet:

The talk between Ponting and Ashwin ensured that he gave warning to Aaron Finch during Delhi Capitals' game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. After the game h tweeted, "Let’s make it clear !! First and final warning for 2020. I am making it official and don’t blame me later on. @RickyPonting #runout #nonstriker @AaronFinch5 and I are good buddies btw"
