Mumbai Indians’ hard-hitting batsman Kieron Pollard has termed himself alongside the Pandya brothers – Hardik and Krunal as the engine room for the franchise after MI’s 34-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 17th match of the ongoing IPL 2020 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday (4th October).

After Quinton de Kock set up a strong foundation for MI with a 39-ball 67, Pollard (25*) and Hardik (28 runs off 19 balls) added 41-run for the fourth wicket and then Krunal’s brilliant cameo of 20* off 4 balls helped Mumbai speed on and up the run rate to cross the 200-run mark against the SRH on Sunday.

Later the brilliant bowling display from Trent Boult (2/28), James Pattinson (2/29) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/41) saw MI to outclass SRH at 174/7 to win the IPL 13 match by 34 runs in Sharjah on Sunday.

Pollard told the host broadcasters: “We look at us (him and Pandya brothers) as the engine room in the car without the engine you can't move. We need to go there, but the speed on and up the run rate, some days it will happen some days it won't but when it gets off we have to make sure we make it count. Just petrol, clean petrol (the fuel that gets them going).”

Meanwhile, the yorker has been talked about a lot in the ongoing IPL 2020, as even the otherwise lethal delivery has been dug out by batsmen and what is worse is that runs have been scored from the yorker, but Pollard believes that is still a wicket-taking delivery.

He signed off by saying, “But what we have seen is a yorker is still a yorker in this form of cricket, we have tried all sorts of different things like slower balls into the wicket, again a yorker is a yorker even the best, in the end, cannot hit a yorker.”

Noteworthy, MI – the team is currently leading the IPL 2020 points table, will next take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their next IPL 13 clash on 6th October in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
