IPL 2020: "It was so nice to dismiss Kane Williamson," says MI's Trent Boult

Boult dimissed his New Zealand captain for 3 in their last IPL 13 clash.

Mumbai Indians’ (MI) star pacer Trent Boult was delighted to get the batter of his New Zealand captain Kane Williamson during the 17th match of the ongoing IPL 2020 between MI and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday (4th October) at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Williamson usually gets the better of his Black Caps teammate Boult during the net practice but on Sunday in Sharjah, the speedster perfectly delivered the slower-ball bouncer to stun the SRH star batsman for just 3 while chasing MI’s massive 208 in the IPL 13 clash.

He managed to face only 5 balls before surrendering to MI pacer Boult while trying to hit the ball off his Kiwi teammate over the head of Quinton de Kock as the ball went straight into the gloves of the Mumbai wicketkeeper-batsman to put SRH on the back seat in the match on Sunday.

Well, Boult delivered a Man of the Match performance with the ball for MI as he finished with the figures of 2/28 in his quota of 4 overs to help the defending champions to win the game by 34-run over SRH.

Following the thrilling MI v SRH encounter, the veteran fast-bowler said he was really delighted to get the wicket of Kane since he doesn't manage to dismiss him often at the nets for New Zealand.

Boult said at the post-match presentation: “I don't actually get Kane out too much in the nets. So nice to do so, but more important to get the wicket.”

He was also glad that the MI bowlers successfully defended well 208 in batsmen friendly conditions in Sharjah. The pacer further said: “We had watched a bit of cricket played on this wicket. Small ground too. It was a good effort by the boys. We had something to bowl to. I am known for swing and not for slower ones with the new ball, but you just use variations and angles.”

Meanwhile, the New Zealander has admitted that the conditions in the UAE have been very foreign for him but he has been clear in his head and focussed on executing his plans.

He signed off by saying, “Very foreign conditions for me, very hot, but you have to be clear in your head. Execute what you want to do, and not worry about the ball traveling out of the park.”
