Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) skipper KL Rahul was slammed for his captaincy against Mumbai Indians (MI) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 clash on Thursday (October 1), which took the game away from them. While 160 was considered a fighting score in Abu Dhabi, KXIP conceded 191 runs despite having control in the initial phases.

Punjab could only manage 143/8 in their allotted 20 overs and suffered a defeat by 48 runs. The three overs which changed the game completely were the death overs. In 18th, 19th, and 20th overs, MI plundered 18, 19, and 25 runs respectively, while the biggest over in KXIP's innings was of 15 runs.

"Obviously disappointing. Looking back, we could've got three wins out of four. This game, we made some mistakes. Important we come back stronger," Rahul said during the post-match presentation.

Rahul knows they are a bowler short and he would like to work it out with the coaches before the next match. KXIP are already behind in the race with three losses and just one win in their four games.

"The wicket looked good with the new ball. Don't know if it slowed after that. Another bowling option would be nice - an all-rounder option who can bat and bowl well. Will be sitting with the coaches to decide if we want to play an extra bowler."

KXIP opener Mayank Agarwal is currently the Orange Cap holder with 246 runs in the four matches. Rahul is just behind him with 7 fewer runs, on 239 runs.

"Until and unless that Orange Cap stays with KXIP, I'm happy. He's (Agarwal) worked very hard and deserves that cap. I'm sure I'll take it off him soon," Rahul said.
