Mumbai Indians (MI) crushed Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in a face-off on Tuesday by 48 runs at Abu Dhabi. It was the second win for MI in the Indian Premier League (IPL) out of four matches.
MI captain Rohit Sharma was happy to see two of his power-hitters in good touch. Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard exploded in the death overs and scored 62 runs in the last three overs. Pollard scored 47* off 20 deliveries while Hardik added 30* off just 11 balls.
After a terrific effort to score 191/4 on a difficult wicket to bat, the MI bowling unit came good in the second innings. They restricted KXIP to 143/8. James Pattinson, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rahul Chahar picked up two wickets each.

"Was a great win. We didn't start really well, but we knew, the kind of attack Punjab has, we wanted to capitalize on that towards the back end. Hardik and Pollard back themselves to get those runs in the end," said Rohit, who smashed 70 runs off 45 balls, during the post-match presentation.
"They (Hardik and Pollard) have done that on many occasions. It is nice to have them in form. Overall very happy with the batting performances. we knew it wasn't going to be easy with the ball. We knew taking early wickets was crucial. We did that," he added.
Rohit, after becoming the third batsman to score 5,000 runs in IPL, said, "The captain looks good when the bowlers execute plans well. Feels good to get to 5000 runs. I didn't look much into it. Winning the game was more important."
After the win against Punjab, Mumbai Indians are currently at the top of the points table.
