IPL 2020: Navdeep Saini dedicates RCB’s win over MI to Corona Warriors and Shaheed Bhagat Singh

This was the second super over in IPL 2020.

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers celebrate victory in super over as Bumrah looks | IANSRoyal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) defeated the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in a thrilling affair in Dubai on Sunday. The IPL 2020 clash saw the second tied match of the season, as both teams scored 201 runs each.

Half-centuries from Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal, and AB de Villiers took RCB to a 201/3. In reply, MI was throttling at 78/4 when Ishan Kishan and Kieron Pollard added 119 runs in 51 balls to take their team within the reach of a win. Kishan made 99, while Pollard remained unbeaten on 60 in 24 balls.

The super over saw Navdeep Saini keeping the MI duo of Pollard and Hardik to 7 runs, dismissing Hardik in the process. The total was not a big one and Kohli and De Villiers snared victory easily to get two points on the board.

Saini was the star with the ball in super over and decided to dedicate the victory to Corona Warriors and to noted freedom fighter Shaheed Bhagat Singh, whose 113th birth anniversary was celebrated on September 28.

Saini tweeted, “This win is dedicated to Corona warriors & Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji

The RCB franchise has already announced their initiative to don practice jerseys with a message to thank the Corona Warriors printed on them. They also announced to don a special jersey with the names of some of the warriors on them and RCB players changed their names on Twitter to those warriors as well.
