Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman AB de Villiers feels the team needs considerable improvement in bowling and fielding going ahead in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.

His comments came after RCB registered a nervy win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Super-Over at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday (September 28).

Both the teams scored 201 in their stipulated 20 overs before RCB edged past MI in the one-over eliminator. Navdeep Saini conceded 7 runs and got rid of Kieron Pollard in the Super-Over while De Villiers and Virat Kohli helped RCB to knock off the runs against Jasprit Bumrah.

"Fantastic game of cricket, without sounding arrogant, we were no doubt the best team on the day against Mumbai. We really made it easier for them in the second innings with the ball in hand, there were mistakes on the field and we need to stop them going ahead in the tournament. It was only our third game, maybe I am being too harsh but we need to get things right, we are going to work on our skills in the field, boys showed fantastic character and I am proud of that," De Villiers said in a video posted on the official Twitter handle of RCB.

In a game where over 400 runs were scored, RCB spinner Washington Sundar impressed one and all by recording the figures of 1 for 12 in his four overs.

As far as the batting performance is concerned – RCB piled up 201/3 on the back of fabulous half-centuries from AB de Villiers (55* off 24 balls), Aaron Finch (52 off 35 balls) and Devdutt Padikkal (54 off 40 balls). All-rounder Shivam Dube also played a valuable cameo of 10-ball 27*.

In reply, the defending champions were reeling at 78/4 before Ishan Kishan (99 off 58 balls) and Kieron Pollard (60 off 24 balls) produced breathtaking knocks to tie the match. The duo shared a 119-run stand in just 51 deliveries to turn the game on its head.
