Delhi Capitals (DC) downed three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a brilliant all-round performance in Dubai on September 25. DC batted first and put up a decent 175 on the board which the CSK team failed to chase down after a lackluster batting performance.

DC won the match by 44 runs thanks to 64 from Prithvi Shaw and great support from Dhawan, Iyer, and Pant as well. In the bowling department, Akshar Patel shined with 1/18, while Rabada picked 3/26 in his four overs.

Coach Ricky Ponting was uber pleased with his team’s performance and in the dressing room, during his post-match analysis speech, praised each and every of the DC team’s performers of the match and singled out Shaw and Akshar for their brilliant showing.

He mentioned how their plan to use Akshar to get Watson’s wicket worked well and he said that from now on, Shaw has a blueprint on how to build his innings, which was peppered with amazing shots on both sides of the wicket of front and back foot.

Ponting also appreciated the supporting roles played by Anrich Nortje (2/21) and Amit Mishra while having some good words for Kagiso Rabada who dismissed Faf du Plessis, MS Dhoni, and Ravindra Jadeja.
