Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 44 runs in Dubai yesterday night (September 25) and registered their second win from as many matches in this Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first. Shikhar Dhawan (35) and Prithvi Shaw (64) gave a good start of 94 runs to Delhi Capitals. In the 11th over Piyush Chawla broke this stand by removing Dhawan and in the next over he dismissed Shaw who played a good knock of 64 runs. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer couldn't play big shots in the end and Delhi finished on 175/3 in 20 overs.
In reply, Chennai Super Kings' openers' poor form continued as both Watson and Vijay got out cheaply. After that Faf du Plessis and Kedar Jadhav tried to rebuild the innings but they couldn't score quick runs against the quality spin bowling of Akshar Patel and Amit Mishra and in the last seven overs they needed 105 runs to win but Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje gave them no chance and Chennai could score only 131 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. For Delhi, Kagiso Rabada took 3 wickets while Anrich Nortje took 2 wickets.
