IPL 2020: Chahar shares 15-year challenge with Watson after he received a special gift from CSK

IPL 2020: Chahar shares 15-year challenge with Watson after he received a special gift from CSK

CSK gifted Shane Watson a beautiful photo from his innings in IPL 2019 final .

Shane Watson made 80 in IPL 2019 final which CSK lost by one run, with a bloodied knee | IANSChennai Super Kings’ all-rounder Shane Watson was picked up by the franchise ahead of their return to IPL fold in 2018, even though he had retired from international cricket some time back. Watson paid back the team smashing two centuries in IPL 2018 and leading them to their third title.

He almost repeated the feat in the IPL 2019 final, where he slammed a brilliant 80 in the chase of 150 runs, but CSK fell short by one run, handing MI their fourth IPL title. During the innings, Watson injured his left knee while diving to make his ground and batted with blood soaking his trouser red.

Therefore the Chennai Super Kings franchise decided to gift a small tribute in form of a photo depicting him playing a shot during that IPL 2019 final, with the bloodied knee visible behind his pad.

Watson shared the photo on his social media with the caption reading, “I just received this beautiful gift from @ChennaiIPL. I am totally taken back by these very kind words. #Yellove whistlepodu

He has been an inspiration to many throughout his almost 20-year career in cricket and CSK fast bowler Deepak Chahar is one of them.

Chahar, who has been with the CSK franchise since 2018, has picked 33 wickets in 34 matches for the yellow army and paid a small tribute to Watson, by sharing a throwback photo with the all-rounder.

Evident from Chahar’s ’15 years challenge’ the photo was from Australia’s 2004-05 tour to India in which a young Chahar got a photo with then Australian all-rounder Watson. Chahar shared the photo on his Instagram with the caption, “15 years challenge beat that guys ????. One and only THE LEGENDARY Shane Watson
