IPL 2020: WATCH – Rohit, Bumrah among other MI players undergo COVID-19 test in bio-secure bubble

The 13th edition of IPL will be played in UAE from September 19 to November 10.

MI players went through another round of COVID-19 testing | ScreengrabSafety remains paramount as the BCCI is set to organise the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) in UAE from September 19 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a TOI report, over 20,000 tests will be conducted during the course of the tournament, which will run till November 10. Medical staff are working day in and out to make sure that all safety protocols are being strictly followed.

After landing in UAE, players and support staff members of all the eight franchises have undergone several rounds of testing. The report says that 3500 tests had been carried out till last Wednesday (September 9).

Defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday (September 13) uploaded a video on Twitter, showing how the tests are being routinely conducted under the bio-secure bubble.

In the video, the medical personnel can be seen sporting PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) kits while the testing space is fully sanitised.

Earlier, 13 members of the CSK squad, including two cricketers, were tested positive for COVID-19. The good news is that 12 of them have now recovered and back with the team in the bio-secure environment.

Mumbai Indians will face Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
