Former India wicket-keeper and current cricket commentator Deep Dasgupta was impressed with the West Indies and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Sunil Narine’s improved batting ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in the UAE.

Narine one of the most-sought spinners in the world of T20 cricket has now grown as a batsman over the last few years and his remodeled bowling action helped him trouble the batsmen in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The all-rounder has picked up five wickets from four matches at an economy rate of 4.87 and scored back-to-back half-centuries for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL 2020, and he would be certainly eager to continue his exploit with the bat in the IPL 2020 for KKR too in the UAE.

However, Dasgupta admitted Narine’s improved batting is a very big advantage for the cricketer and his franchisees as well, but he would still favor the spinner as the bowler more than the batsman.

Dasgupta said on the Cricket Connected Show on Star Sports: “One thing I have found good in his batting is that earlier he used to be a little troubled with the back of the length bowling, but in the last match he played some amazing pull shots. So, this is a new facet that has got added in his batting.”

The former cricketer further added, “In batting, he is continuing to perform the way he was doing earlier. But I have found his bowling the most impressive. The pace at which he is bowling, the control he is showing, if you consider everything, I have found his bowling more impressive than his batting.”

He signed off, “CPL is also an important tournament and you are able to try things under pressure. The pressure might be a little more during the IPL but these are also competitive matches, so considering that it is definitely a very big advantage and I feel his bowling has become even better.”
