Adam Zampa replaces Kane Richardson

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday (August 31) announced that Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa has been signed up by the franchise as replacement for fast bowler Kane Richardson, who pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 as he and his wife are expecting birth of their first child.

Zampa has previously played for Rising Pune Supergiant in the IPL and would strengthen the spin-attack of RCB joining Yuzvendra Chahal, Moeen Ali, Pawan Negi, Washington Sundar and Shahbaz Ahmed. He had picked 19 wickets in 11 matches for the Pune franchise which was part of the tournament in 2016 and 2017.

RCB welcomed the spinner who incidentally has a brilliant record against the skipper of the franchise, Virat Kohli, having dismissed him seven times in white-ball cricket.

RCB's Indian players arrived on August 21 in Dubai and were soon joined by the Proteas trio of AB de Villiers, Chris Morris and Dale Steyn. The team has started to practice at the ICC Academy after completing their mandatory six-day quarantine period in which they had to test negative for COVID-19 thrice.
