The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise has begun its outdoor training procedures and saw Virat Kohli getting into his groove pretty soon. The franchise picked a few new faces during the IPL 2020 auction and one of them was Aaron Finch.
This will give a big headache for the RCB team management as to who will open for the franchise Aaron Finch or captain Virat Kohli, who usually opened with Parthiv Patel. Finch is considered to be one of the most aggressive openers in limited-overs cricket and is the only batsman with two scores of over 150 in T20I cricket.
Finch also scored the highest score in T20I cricket-172 against Zimbabwe.
He is expected to open the innings but the question here is who will he replace at the top- Parthiv or Kohli?
IPL 2020: WATCH - "I was pretty scared," Virat Kohli talks about first nets session with RCB
RCB team director Mike Hesson had an interesting take on this conundrum but kept the answer to himself.
“It’s really interesting, I did a couple of hours of the press conference but never talked about where Virat is batting or where Aaron finch is gonna bat or they’re opening the batting together. In reality from a director or coach point of view we wouldn’t wanna tell anybody exactly what our line-up is because that’s our strategy,” Hesson said in a video uploaded on RCB official Twitter handle.
“We wanna keep some of those things up our sleeves in terms of where we use players. We know we’re going to be asked many questions about who’s going to bat where... You just have to wait. We’re well aware of what we want but we also wanna keep our opposition guessing,” the former Kiwi coach added.
The IPL 2020 kicks off from September 19th in the UAE, with the final set to be played on November 10th.
