Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had a fairly good outing in the recently concluded player auction in Kolkata for IPL 2020. RCB bought a total of 8 players and broke the 5 Crore mark only once as they went all-out for the South African all-rounder Chris Morris and grabbed him for the whopping price of INR 10 Crores.

Even though they paid big bucks to Morris, the biggest, as well as the smartest buy for the franchise, turned out to be Australian batsman Aaron Finch. After winning the bidding war against Kolkata Knight Riders, RCB managed to get Finch for INR 4.4 Crores.

But as it turns out, RCB were prepared for this Finch’s price to go up as their Director of Cricketing Operations Mike Hesson already predicted the same when they had a mock auction. In a video posted by RCB’s official Twitter handle both Hesson and head coach, Simon Katich can be seen participating in a mock auction.

Simon Katich and @CoachHesson had their planning spot on to get the Australian captain Aaron Finch at the #IPLAuction. We documented the mock auction to reveal a fascinating story,” they wrote.

As seen in the video, after the winning bid of 4 Crores, Hesson says, “it’s going to be something around that.

This just goes to show that his efforts are clearly visible on the franchise now and it will be interesting to see how Virat Kohli and Co. will perform in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League.
