A total of 332 players have been shortlisted for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 auction, slated to be held in Kolkata on December 19.

This being a reasonably smaller auction, a total of 73 spots will be filled by the eight franchises, of which 29 have to be overseas players.

While there is a lot of focus on overseas stars, some cricketers like 48-year-old Pravin Tambe and 14-year-old Noor Ahmad could create records if they are picked.

Tambe, who made his IPL debut at the age of 41 for Rajasthan Royals back in 2013, has not played in the cash-rich tournament since 2016. Although he was roped in by Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2017, he didn’t get a game.

Nonetheless, the veteran leg-spinner has been featuring in various T20 leagues within India as well as in other countries. Tambe is the only cricketer in his 40s in the shortlisted list for IPL 2020 auction. He is being followed by Australia’s Fawad Ahmed, who is about to turn 38 in a couple of month’s time.

Tambe and Brad Hogg have plied their trade in the IPL at the age of 45 – the record for the league’s oldest player thus far.

On the other hand, Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad, at the tender age of 14, could be the youngest to feature in IPL.

Prayas Ray Barman, who made his IPL debut last season for RCB, holds the record for being the youngest to play IPL at 16 years.
