A 17-year-old Assam all-rounder Riyan Parag, on Monday, 22nd April, became the second youngest player after Mujeeb-ur-Rahman to take a wicket in his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) match when he dismissed Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Shreyas Iyer.

The Assam lad celebrated his maiden IPL wicket with a Bihu dance in Jaipur and it was for the second time when he made his state proud on him -not only with his all-round show, but also his love for the Assamese culture, and even IPL has shared the clip on its official Twitter handle on Monday.

On Saturday, 20th April, Parag made his team Rajasthan Royals (RR) proud with his match-winning knock of (43) -which made him nearly the youngest player to hit a fifty in the T20 extravaganza, to guide the Royals to a five-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians. Though, the right-hander fell just 7 runs short of creating history to become the youngest to score a half-century in the IPL.

Besides his brilliant batting against the formidable MI, Parag also won hearts with his Gamsu -a rectangular piece of cloth which has own significance for Assamese -that’s a symbol of love and respect and a representation of the Assamese culture, and now his Bihu dance on his another feat in the IPL 2019 is something that his state people would adore and proud.

Parag told iplt20.com, “I'm just grateful to god. It feels really surreal. Been watching the IPL for the last 5-6 years and now being a part of it and playing for Rajasthan Royals, contributing for my team feels surreal. I'm grateful to RR for picking me.”
