The 40th match of the ongoing IPL 2019 between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) was more special for Rishabh Pant, as the young batsman not only helped the DC to cross the line but also received a warm gesture from his team mentor Sourav Ganguly after his scintillating knock in Jaipur.
Chasing 192 at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur, the Capitals got off the brilliant start from Shikhar Dhawan (54 off 27) and Prithvi Shaw (42) and later, the 21-year-old finished the job in style, slamming his most responsible knock of the ongoing season, 78* off 36 balls to help DC to win the match by 6 wickets and 4 balls to spare and move to the top of the points table with 14 points.
After the entertaining T20 encounter on Monday, 22nd April, the wicket-keeper batsman has received a heartfelt gesture from Ganguly, as the Indian cricket great rushed to the field and lift Pant with utter delight and even DC advisor shared the picture on social media with some words of praise for him.
Ganguly wrote on Twitter, “Rishabh Pant. u deserve this ... u r wow”.
Meanwhile, the left-hander also called that a surreal moment for him while expressing his delight to contribute in the team’s winning cause. As per IANS, Pant said at the post-match press conference, “I am feeling lovely. To make your team win in an important match is a good feeling.”
Noteworthy, DC will now take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in their next IPL 2019 match at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Sunday, 28 April.
