Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Kings XI Punjab by 8 wickets at PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali and registered their first win of this IPL season. 

Earlier Virat Kohli won the toss and asked Kings XI Punjab to bat first. Openers Chris Gayle and KL Rahul gave a quick 66 runs start in just 6 overs and were looking set for a big score but Yuzvendra Chahal broke this stand by removing KL Rahul and later he also dismissed Mayank Agarwal and after that Kings XI Punjab couldn't score quick runs in the middle overs.

Chris Gayle brought up his fifty but due to lack of support from the other end, he had to bat sensibly and couldn't take the risk in the middle overs. In the end, Gayle played some shots and remained not out on 99 and helped his team to post a good total of 173/4.

In reply, Parthiv Patel and Virat Kohli started off well and added 43 runs for the first wicket. After Patel's wicket, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers took the charge and their 85 runs partnership put Punjab on backfoot. Both the batsmen also brought up their respective fifties.

Virat Kohli got out on 67 and gave a chance of come back to Punjab. In the last three overs, Bangalore needed 38 runs to win which AB de Villiers and Marcus Stoinis scored without any more damage and helped their team to clinch the first win of this season. AB de Villiers was named Man of the Match for his 59* runs knock.
