Delhi Capitals hosted Kolkata Knight Riders in the 10th match of IPL 2019 at Feroz Shah Kotla on Saturday (March 30).
Chasing 186 to win, DC opener Prithvi Shaw’s 55-ball 99 stole the show. The 19-year-old looked in terrific touch from the outset and thrashed the KKR bowlers to all parts of the ground. His herculean knock was laced with 12 boundaries and 3 sixes.
In the penultimate over of Delhi’s innings, Shaw couldn’t resist and went for a pull shot off Lockie Ferguson’s bumper. Unfortunately, the youngster got a big top-edge and the skier was eventually taken by KKR captain Dinesh Karthik. Thus, Prithvi Shaw missed out on what could have been his maiden IPL century.
After his dismissal, DC also failed to cross the line and the match ended in a tie. But in the Super Over, Delhi's 10 runs off six deliveries proved just too much for the visiting team who were stopped at 7/1 by the Proteas speedster Kagiso Rabada.
Twitter experts were left mesmerised by the dazzling strokeplay of Shaw against the potent KKR bowling attack.
