Jason Holder's catch to dismiss Rajat Patidar sparked controversy during the IPL 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Thursday (April 30).
During the 8th over of RCB’s innings, Patidar pulled a short delivery bowled by Arshad Khan but got a top edge towards deep backward square leg.
Holder, who was stationed in that region, dived to his right and took a low catch. The catch appeared clean to some, but replays created uncertainty about if the ball touched the ground, leading to animated discussions on the field and in the dugout.
RCB stalwart Virat Kohli felt Holder wasn't in control of the catch and was seen arguing with a match official near the boundary rope.
Patidar hesitated briefly before leaving the field as the on-field ruling of "out" was upheld by the TV umpire.

Patidar dismissal on 19 off 15 balls saw RCB slipping to 79/3 after Kohli had provided a quick start with his 13-ball 28. At the time of writing, the defending champions were reeling at 132/8 after 15 overs, with Venkatesh Iyer and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the middle.
