Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer produced a spectacular fielding effort to dismiss his Mumbai Indians (MI) counterpart Hardik Pandya in Match 24 of the IPL 2026 season at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday (April 16).
During the 18th over of MI’s innings, Hardik hit a ball from Marco Jansen high into the air down the ground. Shreyas ran to his left from long-on, leaped sideways, and caught the ball while airborne.
Realizing his momentum was taking him over the boundary rope, the Punjab captain flicked the ball up, landed outside the boundary, and then relayed it back to Xavier Bartlett, who was nearby, to complete the catch.
Shreyas Iyer’s athletic brilliance left the fans, commentators and his teammates stunned. Even the MI dugout, especially Rohit Sharma was in awe of the effort near the boundary rope.
Coming to the match, MI racked up 195/6 on the board after being asked to bat first. Opening the innings, Quinton de Kock carried his bat to finish 112* off 60 balls, smashing 8 fours and 7 sixes. His century came off just 53 deliveries.
Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers for PBKS, returning with the figures of 3 for 22 in his four overs.
