Mumbai Indians (MI) owner Nita Ambani visited the MI squad during a practice session in Mumbai. MI will begin their IPL 2026 tournament against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday, March 29.
Nita Ambani can be seen interacting with the MI support staff and coaches in a video posted by MI on their social media accounts. She can be seen having a few words with Kieron Pollard and Lasith Malinga before moving on to meeting the players.
However, the best moment of the interaction came when Nita Ambani met former MI captain Rohit Sharma and complimented the six-time IPL winner on his fitness.
She said: “My god, Rohit, I did not recognise you! You look like a young boy". In response, Rohit replied with just a smile.
Rohit worked hard to maintain his physical fitness after retiring from Test cricket in May of last year, with the goal of appearing in the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Rohit Sharma has astonished everyone with his fitness regimen. Brendon McCullum and Trent Boult have hailed the former Indian captain, who appears to be in better physical shape than he has been in years. MI will hope that a fit Rohit Sharma can lead them to a record sixth IPL triumph.
Rohit Sharma has 7,046 runs over the course of his career with two centuries and 47 half-centuries in 272 IPL games. He has scored 400 plus runs in last two IPL seasons for MI, but the last time, he has scored more than 450 runs was in IPL 2016. In 2013, he had his finest batting season, scoring 538 runs in 19 innings as MI won its first IPL championship.
