Indian wicket-keeper-batter Dhruv Jurel had a lot to celebrate on day two of the ongoing first Test against the West Indies on October 3, 2025. Jurel, who is playing in this Test series as Rishabh Pant is out due to injury, hit his maiden Test ton.

KL Rahul had ruled the first half of the day as he completed his 11th Test ton and only the second one in India, which included 12 hits to the boundary. However, he was dismissed soon after, bringing Dhruv Jurel to the crease.

Jurel got support from Ravindra Jadeja and hammered the West Indies bowlers to all parts of the Narendra Modi stadium. He brought up his 50 in 91 balls and then marched on to his highest Test score, surpassing his 90 against England in 2024.

After a few jittery moments, Dhruv Jurel brought up his maiden Test century in 190 balls, hitting 12 fours and two sixes. He celebrated with praise from Jadeja and took off his helmet to acknowledge the crowd and his teammates.

He then used his bat to signal something as a tribute to his father, Nem Singh Jurel, who fought for the Indian army in the 1999 Kargil War. Earlier he had done his trademark salute celebration on reaching his half-century.
