Former India captain Rohit Sharma hilariously refused to eat cake despite Virat Kohli pushing Yashasvi Jaiswal to feed the Mumbaikar as India celebrated at the team hotel after winning the three-match ODI series against South Africa in Vizag.

India defeated South Africa by 9 wickets in the third and final ODI in Vizag, thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 116* and half-centuries by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Earlier, South Africa had made 270, with Quinton de Kock scoring 106, while Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna took four wickets each.

Following the victory, the team hosted a little celebration at their Vizag hotel, with Jaiswal being invited to cut the cake. He and Kohli were called up together, but Kohli insisted that the youngster take center stage.

When Jaiswal handed Kohli a slice, the star batter urged him to give it to Rohit first, given the pair's imposing century-opening partnership. 

But when Jaiswal turned to Rohit, the batter immediately declined with a laugh, saying, “Main phir se mota ho jaunga (I’ll become fat again),” leaving the room in splits.

This comes after Rohit Sharma’s incredible physical transformation after stepping away from competitive cricket after IPL 2025. In preparation for the Australia tour, and with the goal of securing a spot in the 2027 World Cup squad, he completed an intensive training plan under the close supervision of his buddy and former India assistant coach, Abhishek Nayar.

Rohit also maintained a rigorous diet, including foregoing his "favorite meal." Nayar later disclosed that the Indian captain had shed 11 kg in the three months leading up to the tour.

The new fit Rohit Sharma was on song in the Australia ODI series, scoring 8, 73, and an unbeaten 121 off 125 balls in Sydney, hitting 13 fours and three sixes in the final ODI. He also scored two half-centuries in the recent three-ODI series against South Africa.
