KL Rahul impressed with his captaincy acumen as he led India to a 2-1 ODI series win over South Africa at home. This came after India won the third and final ODI against the Proteas in Vizag by 9 wickets.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 116*, Rohit Sharma’s 75, and Virat Kohli’s 65* helped India overhaul South Africa’s 270 runs with 9 wickets in hand and 61 balls remaining. For the Proteas, Quinton de Kock had smashed 106 runs.
There was one incident during the third ODI match that piqued the interest of the fans, and the video went viral on social media. It happened in the 44th over of the first innings, just after Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Lungi Ngidi, and the final batter of the South Africa team came out to the crease.
Virat Kohli quickly approached KL Rahul and suggested he position two slip fielders for the last two deliveries of the over. Kohli urged India to keep an attacking mindset and send a message that the final wicket was close.
Rahul, on the other hand, dismissed the idea and responded firmly, "Ja baith wahan pe (Go and sit there)."
With no other option, Kohli quietly returned to his position in the field. Rahul then turned to Rohit Sharma, who was standing in the slips and was smiling at the exchange.
