Everything is not well within the Indian team despite them defeating South Africa in the first ODI of the three-match series, played at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi on November 30.
India was asked to bat first after losing the toss, and Virat Kohli led the way with 135 in 120 balls with 12 fours and 7 sixes. Rohit Sharma made 57, and KL Rahul scored 60 as India posted 349/8 in 50 overs.
South Africa was in trouble in the chase at 11/3, but then Matthew Breetzke (72), Marco Jansen (70), and Corbin Bosch (67) kept them in the game until the last few overs. South Africa finished on 332, losing the game by 17 runs in the end. Kuldeep Yadav took 4/68, while Harshit Rana took 3/65 for India.
However, things were not right in the Indian dressing room, as Virat Kohli was seen entering the pavilion and completely ignoring head coach Gautam Gambhir, who looked in his direction. In another video, Gambhir and Rohit were seen having an intense conversation in the dressing room with Rohit.

The chat between Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir continued in the team hotel as well, where KL Rahul, the stand-in India captain for the series, was cutting a cake in celebration. Interestingly, Virat Kohli, who won the Player of the Match, was seen entering the lobby.
He clapped as Rahul cut the cake, but refused to stop and join in the festivities and continued walking towards his room.

The videos, along with another showing Kohli appearing to disregard Gambhir in the dressing room, emerged amid concerns that everything is not well in the ODI setup.
According to a Dainik Jagran article, the mood in the T20I and Test settings is stable, but the same cannot be true for the ODI dressing room. According to the source, Gambhir no longer has the same relationship with the two veteran batsmen as he used to.
“The relations between Gautam Gambhir and senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma aren’t as good as they should be, and there could be a meeting regarding the future of the two players. This could take place either in Raipur or Visakhapatnam—venues for the second and third ODIs,” Jagran quoted a BCCI source as saying.
The report also added that the relationship between Kohli and Rohit and the selectors has become tense, something that was evident during the Australia tour in October.
