Things heated up on day one of the third Test between India and New Zealand in Mumbai on a hot day, as umpires had to caution Sarfaraz Khan for his relentless sledging of Daryl Mitchell. This then led to India captain Rohit Sharma getting involved as well.

Tom Latham, New Zealand captain, won the toss in the third Test and decided to bat first eyeing a white-wash of the Indian team.

The problem appeared to develop after Mitchell expressed his displeasure with Sarfaraz Khan's apparent mumble from under the helmet at the forward short-leg position. This came after Rohit Sharma approached Mitchell near the stump mike and had a serious conversation with the batter.

The game came to a halt briefly as the duo exchanged words, with the audience shouting loudly behind the Indian captain. The umpires then had a chat with Rohit Sharma and Sarfaraz Khan as they seemingly warned Sarfaraz about his constant talk at short leg.

However, things calmed down as Rohit also talked with Mitchell and the game resumed.
