India captain Rohit Sharma was left in disbelief after losing his wicket to Ajaz Patel non day three of the ongoing first Test between India and New Zealand. This match is being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
New Zealand, thanks to 134 from Rachin Ravindra, 91 from Devon Conway and 65 from Tim Southee, posted 402 in their first innings. This was in reply to India’s 46 runs in their first innings.
After trailing by 356 runs, India came out and batted positively in their second innings as Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal (35) added 72 runs for the first wicket. Ajaz Patel had Jaiswal stumped and then accounted for India captain Rohit Sharma as well.
Sharma had made 52 runs with 8 fours and 1 six before an unfortunate shot ended his innings.
Ajaz Patel, a Kiwi left-arm spinner, fired a ball from the off-stump, and Rohit leaned forward for a defensive stroke. However, the ball deflected off the inside edge and trickled onto the stumps before Rohit noticed it.
He stood there briefly, head lowered, before gently walked off the field.

However, Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan have consolidated brilliantly for India since those wickets. India made 191/2 at the time of writing this piece with Sarfaraz Khan and Virat Kohli both scoring brilliant half-centuries.
