India skipper Rohit Sharma returned to form with a dazzling century in the second ODI against England in Cuttack on Sunday (February 9).
Rohit, who was under severe criticism for his string of low scores in the last five months, took the English bowling attack to the cleaners at the Barabati Stadium.
Chasing 305 to win, the right-hander launched a brutal assault on the visiting bowlers right from the word go. He notched up his half-century off 30 balls and stitched a 136-run opening stand with Shubman Gill to put India in a commanding position.
Rohit continued his carnage and reached the three-figure mark in 76 deliveries. He smashed leg-spinner Adil Rashid over long-off for a big six to bring up his 32nd ton in the 50-over format.
Rohit Sharma’s century celebration was quite nonchalant as he raised his bat and soaked in all the applause. His celebration suggested that he was keen to stay till the end and take India over the finishing line.
Here’s the video:
Rohit was dismissed by Liam Livingstone in the 30th over for 119 off 90 balls, including 12 boundaries and 7 sixes. At the time of his dismissal, India needed 85 runs off 122 deliveries to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
