India captain Rohit Sharma was toast of the day as his 32nd ton in ODIs helped the Men in Blue defeat England in the 2nd ODI that was played in Cuttack on February 9, 2025. With this 4-wicket win, India also took a 2-0 winning lead in the 3-ODI series.
England had won the toss and chose to bat first. Ben Duckett (65), Joe Root (69), and Liam Livingstone (41) ensured that England made a good score and posted 304 runs in 50 overs. For India, Ravindra Jadeja shined with 3/35 in 10 overs.
In reply, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill (60) added 136 runs for the opening wicket. After Gill perished, and Virat Kohli fell for 5 runs, Rohit added 70 runs with Shreyas Iyer (44). Axar Patel remained 41* as India achieved the target in 44.3 overs with 4 wickets in hand.
Rohit Sharma was given the Player of the Match for his 119whicht consisted of 12 fours and 7 sixes. His wife Ritika Sajdeh posted a heartfelt story on Instagram when Rohit reached the ton in just 76 balls.
