Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal heaped praise on his captain, Rohit Sharma, for his supportive nature towards his teammates. Jaiswal said that the way Rohit helps his players is just incredible, and he will continue to learn from his senior batter.

Recently, R Ashwin shared a touching anecdote about Rohit’s support when he had to abruptly leave the Rajkot Test against England due to a family emergency.

Notably, Jaiswal showcased an exceptional performance during the recent Test series against England, winning the Player of the Series award.

The talented young opener amassed a remarkable 712 runs in nine innings, including two double-centuries, and helped Team India clinch the home Test series with a 4-1 margin against England.

Yashasvi Jaiswal told The Indian Express:It’s so good to have him (Rohit) there inside the dressing room. “It has been great to play under him. There are a lot of moments that I don’t want to disclose at the moment. Let it be with me. The way he backed players throughout this journey, the way he talks, the way he bats. Whatever happens, he will be there to stand by you. I think it’s incredible to see that in your leader. I will keep learning from him.”

Jaiswal also revealed that Rohit suggested him to play straight when he was mistiming his square drives against England offspinners Joe Root and Shoaib Bashir during the Test series.

The youngster added, “He (Rohit) came and told me that at that moment that shot is not on, it will be better to hit straight. So, I was trying to hit straight. I must tell you nothing misses his eyes. He knows everything. That is the biggest quality. He is aware of things and what is going on. Alag level hai (He’s on a different level), it’s so fun to be around him.”

He signed off by saying, “There is pressure in every game. I enjoyed it. I’m really happy with the way I have played throughout the series. I have played at different venues and batted in different ways. I trust my belief and back myself. It helps me a lot.”
