IND v ENG 2024: WATCH – Shubman Gill trains alone ahead of fifth Test against England in Dharamsala

Shubman Gill played a key role in India's series-clinching victory in the Ranchi Test.

Shubman Gill | GettyIndia batter Shubman Gill was under severe scrutiny as he entered the five-Test series against England with a string of low scores.

Before this series, Gill had batted eight Test innings at No. 3 position without scoring a single fifty. He also endured failures in the first three innings against England.

Just when the pressure was mounting on him, Shubman produced a gritty hundred (104) in the second innings of Vizag Test to script India’s 106-run victory.

The right-hander followed it up with a stunning 91 in the second essay of Rajkot Test, enabling India’s 434-run victory that also gave them a 2-1 lead in the series.

Gill then rose to the occasion during the fourth innings of the Ranchi Test, slamming an unbeaten half-century (52) to not only take his home over the line but also seal the series.

Shubman Gill now seems keen to do well in the series finale against England, scheduled to be held in Dharamsala from March 7. While the Indian team is yet to assemble for the dead-rubber fifth Test match, Gill has resumed his training at the PCA Stadium in Mohali - his domestic cricket home ground.

On Saturday (March 2), a video went viral on social media, in which the 24-year-old was seen doing a running drill and the fans commended the young cricketer's dedication towards the game.

Recently, Shubman Gill was promoted to Grade A in the BCCI central contracts list, highlighting his significant contributions and performances in recent times.

After the Dharamsala Test against England, Gill will lead the Gujarat Titans (GT) franchise in the IPL 2024 season, starting on March 22.
