Team India landed in Ranchi on Tuesday (February 20) to take part in the fourth Test against England, slated to get underway on February 23.
Ahead of the match, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel expressed his anticipation for an interaction with legendary India cricketer MS Dhoni, who lives in Ranchi.
In a video shared by the BCCI on social media platform X, Jurel recalled his first interaction with Dhoni during the IPL 2021 season.
"I was just watching him and I stood up and started thinking is this MS Dhoni standing in front of me. My first interaction with him was in IPL 2021 which was my first season. At that time, I was pinching myself to see whether it is a dream or not. My dream is to meet Mahi bhai, especially after the match, after an international game," Jurel said.
“Whenever I have talked to him, I have always learnt something new from him. So, I hope that I get a chance to meet him during the fourth Test in Ranchi," he further added.
Dhruv Jurel made his debut during the third Test in Rajkot, playing his part in India's emphatic 434-run victory over England. He played a handy knock of 46 runs in the first innings and didn’t get a chance to bat in the second innings. He also took one catch and affected a stumping in the match.
Jurel, 23, was added to the Indian squad on the back of his strong performances in first-class cricket for Uttar Pradesh and India ‘A’. Before his Test debut, he appeared in 15 first-class matches, amassing 790 runs at an average of 46.47 with one hundred and five half-centuries to his name.
With India leading the five-match series 2-1, Dhruv Jurel is expected to retain his place in the playing XI for the upcoming fourth Test.
