Jaiswal, Sarfaraz had began walking back when Rohit signaled them to keep batting | XIndia captain Rohit Sharma was very shocked to see batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan making their way back to the pavilion assuming that the host side’s second innings had been declared. This happened on day 4 of the ongoing third Test against England in Rajkot.

India was cruising through as Jaiswal (214*) and Sarfaraz (68*) added 170-plus runs for the fifth wicket in the second innings. This was after Shubman Gill (91) and Kuldeep Yadav (27) added 55 runs for the third wicket.

Jaiswal notched up the second double century of his Test career, and Sarfaraz a consecutive fifty as India declared their second innings on 430/4. However, just before the declaration, a comical moment including Rohit Sharma, left Sarfaraz, Jaiswal, and England perplexed.

India was prepping to declare the innings and Rohit was in the balcony in his whites and was ready to take the field at the end of the 97th over. Simultaneously, a drinks break happened and Jaiswal and Sarfaraz after refreshing themselves, and seeing their captain prepared, started walking towards the dressing room.

Ben Stokes and Co. thought that the innings were over and hence, England was ready to join them in coming off the park. Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley quickly began to make their way to get ready to open the innings.

But instead, Rohit Sharma was seen animatedly shooing his batters and signaling them to continue batting. Rohit stood with his spikes in his hands and play resumed. Duckett was visibly angry at this confusion.

India's innings carried on for just another over, as after Sarfaraz smoked the leg-spinner for 6, 4, 6, 0, and 1, Rohit called for the declaration, with India ahead by a massive 556-run lead.
