Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra did not mince his words in his critique of the Indian cricket team following their 28-run defeat in the first Test against England on January 29 in Hyderabad.

Chopra especially targeted Team India captain Rohit Sharma as England took a 1-0 lead in the ongoing five-match Test series with a stunning win in the Hyderabad Test.

After the defeat, Chopra pointed out that the Indian cricket team appeared too relaxed, allowing England to accumulate easy singles on Day 3 and 4 of the Test match in Hyderabad.

Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube Channel: “When we were commentating, we thought that 200 was going to be a really tough target. India did not think like that and let England take as many singles as they wanted to. They let Rehan Ahmed, and Ollie Pope tick away with a lot of runs and relaxed in the field.”

The cricket expert further criticized the Indian bowling unit, highlighting that England's spinners outperformed their Indian counterparts, as they took more wickets than the hosts spinners, despite Team India's superior bowling attack.

Chopra questioned, “Bumrah took four wickets in the second innings, on a turning track in Hyderabad. England's spinners outperformed India's spinners despite a superior attack. Bumrah did well but what are the rest of the Indian bowlers doing?”

Notably, the second match of the ongoing five-match Test series will be played in Vizag from February 2.
