India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s participation in the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam is doubtful after he sustained an injury during the penultimate day of the first Test in Hyderabad.

Jadeja appeared to have pulled his hamstring, which might have also played a role in his game-changing run out during India’s second innings in Hyderabad.

The 35-year-old was visibly in discomfort and pain after being run out by Ben Stokes on Sunday (January 28) and he is now waiting for his scan reports.

According to a Cricbuzz report, an assessment on the extent of the hamstring injury is expected on Monday (January 29) and there is a possibility of him missing the second Test, slated to get underway on February 2.

"What we understand is that it is a hamstring pull and not tear; so he should be fine for the third Test certainly if he can't play the second," Cricbuzz quoted a source as saying.

One of the best runners between the wickets in the game, Jadeja was run out by Stokes with an outrageous underarm flick.

After India’s 28-run defeat in the Hyderabad Test, head coach Rahul Dravid came out to address a press conference, where he was asked to share an update on Ravindra Jadeja's injury scare.

"We'll see. I honestly haven't had a chance to speak to the physio as yet. Once I get back, I'll speak to him and see what it is about," Dravid told reporters.

If Jadeja is declared unfit, Kuldeep Yadav is likely to play as a third spinner. However, the hosts will certainly miss Jadeja’s batting prowess and his remarkable fielding skills.

Notably, Jadeja was India’s top scorer in the first innings with 87 while he returned with five wickets in the opening Test.
