The first Test of the five-match series between India and England got underway in Hyderabad on January 25, 2024. England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and chose to bat first.

India bowled out England for 246 in 64.3 overs with spin-twins Ravindra Jadeja, and R Ashwin taking 3 wickets apiece while Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah struck twice each.

Ben Stokes led from the front with 70, while Jonny Bairstow (37), Ben Duckett (35) and Joe Root (29) were the other notable scorers.

As Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Rohit Sharma came out to start the home side innings, an incident happened.

A fan invaded the pitch and reached the non-striker’s end where Rohit Sharma was standing. The fan, who was wearing Virat Kohli's Test jersey, managed to breach the security cordon and touched Rohit Sharma’s feet and hugged him.
