Legendary Indian cricketer Farokh Engineer said that England should be wary of Rohit Sharma and the Indian cricket team, regardless of whether they adopt the Bazball approach in the upcoming Test series.

At the BCCI Awards function on Tuesday (January 23), Engineer was honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. During his acceptance speech, Engineer commended the current Team India, describing them as the 'finest' he has ever witnessed.

The former Indian wicketkeeper-batter praised Rohit, as well as the coaching duo of Rahul Dravid and Ravi Shastri, for their contributions to Indian cricket.

Engineer also expressed his hope that the upcoming five-match Test series between India and England will see matches lasting five days, unless they end in favor of the home team.

Farokh Engineer said at the event: “It is an honour to get a standing ovation from the finest Indian team that has ever been. Collectively, Rohit and the boys have done exceptionally well. Ravi Shastri did a great job and Rahul (Dravid) has carried on the good work.”

He added, “You are just so strong in every department. I am sure every team will fear you all and should fear you all. Bazball or not. I don't know if Brendon (McCullum) is here or not. I hope the matches last for five days unless it is in India's favour of course.”

Notably, the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad will host the first Test between India and England from Thursday, January 25, 2024.
