Ravi Bishnoi was the star for India with the ball as the Men in Blue decimated Bangladesh in the third and final T20I in Hyderabad.
Thanks to 111 from Sanju Samson and 75 from Suryakumar Yadav, India posted 296/7 in 20 overs, the second-highest T20I team total ever. In response, Bangladesh could only manage 164/7 runs and lost the game by 133 runs and India pocketed the series 3-0.
India spinner Ravi Bishnoi picked 3 wickets in the first chance he got against Bangladesh. Speaking about the team's mentality with the ball, Bishnoi said that Suryakumar Yadav told the Indian team that they were not defending 300 but 170 runs.
"When we walked into a bowl, Suryakumar Yadav told us that we were defending 160-170 and not 300 as it would help us prepare for matches later on which will have such scores. It was a good surface to bat on but that's the mentality we had," Bishnoi said in a post-match conversation.
Saba Karim, commentating for the broadcaster, asked Bishnoi what distinguished this Indian side from the others. Bishnoi said that the primary difference was the hostility, which was obvious in front of everyone.
"This is the new generation, and you can see what the difference is. 298 runs was the target and look how we attacked and bowled them out for 160s. The approach is when you are on the top, be on the top. With this Indian team, we have been told by the management that every day is a new day. Once yesterday's match is done it is done, we cannot live with it," he further added.
Bishnoi's impressive spell of 3/30 in four overs helped seal the win, making him the standout performer with the ball. He dismissed Najmul Hossain Shanto (14), Litton Das (42), and Rishad Hossain (0) in the match.
With this performance, Ravi Bishnoi completed his 50 wickets in T20Is and became the joint-second fastest Indian to the milestone in 33 matches. He was the youngest Indian to this milestone at 24 years, 37 days.
"I'm feeling great about this small milestone. The competition in the team adds positive pressure, and I wanted to make the most of this opportunity. It's good to take a step back and see the game from the outside. You have to work on yourself and adjust accordingly. I had a few days off and tried to make the most of that time to recharge and improve,” Bishnoi said.
