IND v BAN 2024: ‘Keep going, Sanju!’- Shashi Tharoor lauds Kerala batter for brilliant ton in 3rd T20I

Sanju Samson hit the second fastest T20I ton by an Indian batter.

Sanju Samson hit the second fastest T20I ton by an Indian batter | BCCISanju Samson was the toast of the Indian batting innings in the ongoing third T20I against Bangladesh. This match is being played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad on October 12, 2024.

India, leading the series 2-0, won the toss and chose to bat first.  Abhishek Sharma failed to impress, scoring 4 runs only. But after he got out, Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav brought down carnage on Bangladeshi bowlers.

Samson was at the forefront, hitting his maiden T20I century, making 111 in 47 balls with 11 fours and 8 sixes. He also added 173 runs for the second wicket with captain Suryakumar Yadav, who made 75 in 35 balls with 5 sixes and 8 fours to his name.

After they got out, India aimed to get 300 runs, as Riyan Parag (34 in 13) and Hardik Pandya (47 in 18) almost took them there. India finished with their highest T20I score of 297/6 in 20 overs.

Kerala’s MP from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor was over the moon after Sanju Samson’s brilliant century. Tharoor has also supported Samson, even when he wasn’t being picked for Indian team, and urged the team management to back him consistently.

As Samson made merry today, Tharoor took to X and posted: “My great misfortune that I was running around the constituency in a series of engagements while @IamSanjuSamson was hitting his spectacular century in the ongoing T20i vs Bangladesh. Wish i could have seen it live! I always knew he could do it, and I am bursting with pride at his amazing performance – the second fastest T20i century by an Indian and one of the most dominant ever played in India shirt. Keep going, Sanju!”
