Team India outplayed Bangladesh in all facets of the game to register a thumping 86-run victory over Bangladesh in the second T20I in Delhi on Wednesday (October 9).
Invited to bat first, the hosts ended the powerplay on 45/3. However, the duo of Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh led India’s recovery with a superb partnership of 108 runs for the fourth wicket.
While Reddy smashed 74 off 34 balls with four boundaries and seven sixes, Rinku returned with 53 off 29 balls. Thanks to their dazzling half-centuries and crucial cameo from Hardik Pandya (32 off 19), India racked up a mammoth 221/9 on the board.
Defending the total, the Indian bowlers bowled exceptionally well as a unit to restrict Bangladesh to a paltry 135/9 in 20 overs.
Mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy tarred with the ball, claiming two wickets by conceding 19 runs in his four overs. Reddy (2/23) also displayed his bowling skills and returned with a couple of scalps in his four overs. Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, Mayank Yadav, Abhishek Sharma and Riyan Parag chipped in with wicket apiece.
With this victory, the Men in Blue took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series with a match to spare.
