Arshdeep Singh starred with the ball in India’s dominant seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the first T20I in Gwalior on Sunday (October 6).

The left-arm pacer was adjudged Player-of-the-Match as he returned with the figures of 3/14 in 3.5 overs. Litton Das, Parvez Hossain Emon and Mustafizur Rahman were his victims.

Thanks to his stunning spell, the Men in Blue bundled out the visitors for a low total of 127 runs in 19.5 overs.

In reply, the hosts overhauled the target in just 11.5 overs thanks to sizeable contributions from Hardik Pandya (39* off 16), skipper Suryakumar Yadav (29 off 14) and Sanju Samson (29 off 19).

After his match-winning performance, Arshdeep Singh highlighted the importance of adapting quickly to conditions.

“There's breeze from the end I was bowling. I didn't get the wicket the way I wanted but the ball is coming good from the hand. It's minor changes in the run-up, in the wrist, I keep learning and exploring things. The experience is there, the more you play the better you get,” said Arshdeep in the post-match presentation.

He was also appreciative of fellow pacer Mayank Yadav, who consistently hit the 140kph mark and achieved the figures of 1/21 in four overs on debut.

“Everyone bowled well, especially Mayank was very good. I guess the best thing in this format is how well you can adapt to the situation, to the wicket and to the ground dimensions as well. My motive is how well I can adapt and how quickly I can adapt,” Arshdeep added.

With this victory, India took an unassailable 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series. The second game of the series is slated to be held in Delhi on Wednesday (October 9).
